The first six starters will be voted on by the fans for each conference. The top vote winners in each conference would be named captain, and the two captains will choose the rest of the roster (dodgeball schoolyard style). The proposal was presented by Brendan Shanhan, Hall of Famer and President of the Players Association at the general managers meeting in Toronto. Shanahan said, “We’ve worked for a little while now on this idea and this concept closely with the NHLPA. They like the idea, some of the players they’ve talked to, potential all-stars, they seem energized by it.”
