Justin Verlander’s grandpa reveals he is dating Kate Upton

Justin Verlander is two games away from going to the World Series and is dating a Sports Illustrated cover girl. The reining AL MVP’s grandfather confirmed the long rumored relationship.

Richard Verlander Sr. told Celebuzz, “I heard he has been on dates with a Sports Illustrated girl. I saw a photo — she’s beautiful. They make a good looking pair because he’s a good looking man too. I do know he’s on the dating scene. Justin is a fine boy and whoever he ends up with is lucky. He’s not only a great baseball player, he’s a great guy.”

The couple have been linked together since July and were photographed together in late September when the Tigers played the Chicago White Sox. Verlander’s grandpa isn’t the first family member to hint at their relationship. Upton’s uncle and Michigan Congressman (R) Fred Upton said he was rooting for the Detroit Tigers and Justin Verlander for family reasons. The fact that his niece is on the cover of SI and is dating the Tiger’s ace should help Congressman’s Upton reelection in November.

It’s a match-made in Sports Illustrated heaven, Cover Girl Kate Upton and reigning AL MVP Justin Verlander. Despite a long-term relationship with his college girlfriend, the Detroit Tigers pitcher was spotted with the Michigan native this weekend in and around the city. Upton was a guest in Verlander’s suite at the Palace of Auburn Hills for the Aerosmith concert. Joining Upton and Verlander were model Lizzy Glynn and Verlander buddy Frank Viola, Jr., the son of Minnesota Twins’ pitcher Frank Viola. After the concert, the group hit Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill in Auburn Hills and Birmingham’s South Bar.

On Saturday, Upton and Verlander further fueled romance rumors when Upton was seen at Comerica Park sporting a Tigers hat at the Detroit-Kansas City game. Though from Michigan, Upton is a noted Yankees fan. Upton and Verlander co-starred in a commercial together for the MLB 2012 video game earlier this year posted below!

Not only did she win the honor of being on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, but the 19-year old blond bombshell is rumored to be dating NY Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez…. best of all she is a University of Michigan football fan.

Much like NY Jets fans, Sports Illustrated cover model Kate Upton won’t admit to being a fan of quarterback Mark Sanchez. I think we have our March Jersey Chaser of the Month
