The record was previously held by a 90-year old man. Burrill is nicknamed the “Gladyator” and rightfully so… this is her fourth marathon since she ran her first race when she was 86.

After finishing the marathon, Burrill said the secret to living a long life is, “Just get out there and walk or run. I like walking because you can stop and smell the roses, but it’s a rarity that I stop.”

In a marathon in Japan with only 200 meters left, Kokushikan University runner Natsuki Terada took a wrong turn allowing the runners behind him to take the lead and win the race. Terada turned right as he followed the news truck instead of following the race course. Despite the loss, Terada still took fourth place. But if you’re not first you’re last! … I wonder if he took a wrong or wong turn?
