The 34-32 loss puzzled football experts and fans, and now 5 years later a former player has revealed the team was high the morning of the now infamous loss.

After a talent-filled team partied away the 2007 summer, players continued to drink and smoke during the school’s “Welcome Week” in the days leading up to the season. So confident in their ability to beat the FCS Mountaineers, many players got high hours before kickoff to “see how bad we can beat ‘em up if we are stoned.” In an article by Ace Williams being released in November, the former player said:

“The night before the game, everyone was smoking pot and having fun at the team hotel, no coaches were bothering us. The next day, (game day), one offensive player in particular was the ring leader and was messing around trying to convince all the other guys that we could beat these guys stoned and how crazy it would be to be all messed up and still ‘drop 50 on these fools’. For some reason, there was a ton of people who joined in. From what I saw and was told afterwards, 6 defensive starters and 3 offensive starters smoked up that morning. One guy in particular who I know did is the one who made the biggest error of the game and cost us a chance to win. ”

It has been 5 years since the loss, in which the Wolverines failed to qualify for a Bowl game in two of those seasons. Last year, under new coach Brady Hoke, the Wolverines finished with 10–2 and beat Ohio State for the first time in 7 years. In 2014, Michigan will get their rematch in the Wolverines’ home opener against Appalachian State in what fans hope will be the end to hazy era in Michigan football.

Now, Arkansas football fans have the chance to buy Petrino’s infamous motorcycle. Petrino’s 2007 “Hawg Wild” Harley Davidson is for sale on Copart.com. The motorcycle retails at $18,000, though Petrino’s ride will need a few repairs after the highway crash. The current bid is at $4,600, and fans have until May 30. Woo Pig Sooie!

Justin Combs told Scout.com his decision just days after it was announced that head football coach Rick Neuheisel was fired. “I have faith in the program that everything will be OK. My love for UCLA is so strong. I trust and know that everything will work out.”

Combs is from New Rochelle, NY and though is only 5’9″ and 175 pounds, he was recruited by Iowa, Illinois, Tennessee Tech and Wyoming. Congratulations to Justin, his dad must be a Puff Daddy!

The interview was scheduled to take place at Emroy University in Atlanta, Georgia, where Witt is from, Saturday morning, which meant Witt would miss the noon kickoff.

While Witt asked if his interview could be rescheduled,  Elliot Gerson, the American Secretary for the Rhodes Trust told ESPN.com, “We have candidates every year miss games for the interview, the Rhodes Scholarship is an academic award, and is not an award for ‘scholar-athletes,’ despite some popular perception of it in that explicit light.”

Now, the Ivy League senior has decied to forgo his interview to play in the game. “I will be playing in the Yale-Harvard game this Saturday,” Witt said in a press release. “My focus this week is solely on preparing for The Game alongside my teammates and coaches.”

Witt would have been one of 12-16 finalists in the Atlanta region (where he is from) competing for two scholarship awards, but the 22-year old still has two more years of eligibility to apply for the scholarship. Good luck to the Bulldogs this weekend!

Moments later hashtags #ThingsAshtonKutcherdoesntknow and #AshtonKutcherisanidiot began trending, and the Two and a Half Men star admitted he was not familiar with the story.

Kutcher defended his mistake, “As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case,” Kutcher tweeted.

Reiterating that he’s “truely (sic) sorry if I offended anyone,” Kutcher explains although he will still post 140-character updates, he is turning the management of the feed over to his team at Katalyst Media “to ensure the quality of its content.”

Auburn fans take their rivalry with Alabama seriously and are not happy about an Old Navy commercial portraying one of their own as a pizza delivery man. In the commercial for Old Navy’s new collegiate line, the Auburn fan befriends the Crimson Tide by bringing pizza. Now, fans are calling for the Tigers to boycott the clothing chain and have even set up Facebook group. I doubt any Alabama fans are liking the page…

Under current NCAA legislation, schools are prohibited from serving recruits toppings on their bagels. But now the Big East has brought forward Proposal No. 2011-78 to the NCAA council calling for set butter, cream cheese, jelly or peanut butter on top of bagels to be provide for perspective student athletes.
