Cuthbert, a fellow Canadian and avid hockey fan, began dating Phaneuf in 2008. Their relationship made news when Cuthbert’s ex-boyfriend NHL player Sean Avery told reporters before a game against Paneuf, “I’m just going to say one thing. I’m really happy to be back in Calgary; I love Canada. I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don’t know what that’s about, but enjoy the game tonight.”

Avery was suspended for his comments, and four years later Cuthbert and Paneuf are engaged. The couple will have a lot of time on their hands to plan a wedding with the expected NHL lockout.

“I said, let’s keep ’er going. We pay the same money. Why can’t we throw waffles because we think they’re playing bad,” he said. “People throw hats when they think they’re playing good. Why can’t we do something to show disapproval for what’s happened over the past 44 years — especially in my lifetime, 25 years of robbing us and lies?”

The Leafs have not won a Stanley Cup since 1967. Unfortently for Robb, while charges were dropped he still faces a lifetime ban from the Air Canada Centre. Looks like someone Leggoed his Ego.

The Vancouver Canucks Green Men have gained quite a following. The dedicated fans sit next to the penalty box and taunt the opposing team. During last night’s Canucks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs game, the Green Men took advantage of the odd behavior Leafs fans displayed last week when they threw waffles at the players after they lost a game. The Green Men go by the names Force and Sully. Not much is known about their identity, but they do a pretty good job at agitating the players, the Canucks beat the Leafs 4-1.

“Who brings waffles to a hockey game, really? Had we won the game, he was going home with soggy waffles so, I don’t know. Whatever. I don’t appreciate it really, a guy throwing waffles at me when I’m skating by. We’re trying to make light of it in here. Throw a T-bone. Spend some money. Throw a filet.”

Last night during the Vancouver Canucks Minnesota Wild game, Canucks forward Rick Rypien got physical with a Wild fan. The altercation happened after Rypien was sent to the locker roomf ollowing a fight with Minnesota’s Brad Staubitz. Rypien shoved the fan who was taunting him and was pulled away by teammate Manny Malhotra.

The fan was removed from the arena, and Rypien has been suspended indefinitely.

This is not the first time an NHL player has gotten physical with a fan. In 2001, NHL resident bad boy Tie Domi got in a fight in the penalty box when a Philadelphia Flyer fan fell over the glass. No formal charges were laid, but the fan was ejected from the building, and Domi was fined, but not suspended, by the NHL. Stories like these are why hockey is better than every other sport.
