The community activist and son of one of the greatest civil rights leaders is apart of a bidding group along with former Mets first baseman Ed Kranepool, Donn Clendenon Jr. (son of 1960 Mets’ World Series MVP) and television executive Larry Meli. The group is flying to New York to meet with Mets owner Fred Wilpon. The Wilpon’s are looking to sell between 20-25% of the team. Recently, the Wilpons were named in a lawsuit on behalf of the victims of the Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.

Who would have thought Martin Luther King and Bernie Madoff in the same sentence?
