The 13-time Grammy award winner is no stranger to singing at sporting championships, performing “Empire State of Mind” with Jay-Z after the Yankees won the World Series in 2009. This is the third time Keys has performed at the Super Bowl. In 2005, Keys sang “America the Beautiful” before Super Bowl XXXIX and performed at the Super Bowl XLII Pregame Show in 2008. Keys is a close friend of Beyonce, who is headlining the halftime show.

While her first halftime performance, Beyonce sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. A noted sports fan, Jay-Z owns part of the Brooklyn Nets. Beyonce, who grew up in Texas, just might get to cheer on her hometown team and early Super Bowl favorites Houston Texans. Unfortunately for Jay-Z, it is doubtful his NY Jets will be contenders.

The rumor first went viral when Jay Glazer of Fox Sports tweeted: “Got no idea if this is true but if is it’s hilarious. Lawrence Taylor & his agent Mark Lepselter were told last night winning bidder for LT’s Super Bowl Ring was none other than Charlie Sheen!!!”

The hall of fame linebacker has fallen under hard times, and last year was sentenced to six years probation for sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute. But It was Taylor’s son who decided to auction off the Super Bowl XXV championship ring with SCP Auctions, selling for $230,000

Aaron Rodgers

Last year’s Super Bowl MVP hinted at the idea during a Milwaukee radio interview. “I’m hopeful that we can figure something out there,” Rodgers told ESPN 540.

Already getting camera time, Rodgers was a special guest commentator at Super Bowl XLVI on NBC. It seems at though Rodgers was able to impress NBC execs off the field to be considered for the honor. Rodgers even talked to some current cast members about signing-on. Past quaterbacks who have hosted SNL include Peyton Manning, Joe Montana and Tom Brady.

Despite winning one more Super Bowl than his brother, Eli Manning needs to win a few more Oreo twist-offs before he is considered.

A fellow Giants fan, Gellar  is a native New Yorker and grew up on the Upper East Side. Gellar’s famly even had season tickets telling Letterman, “I used to sit out there and freeze on the 50 yard line. But I was on a plane last night, so I only got to see half of the game.”

But when it came time to meeting her team’s quarterback, Gellar was given the Heisman by Manning.

Letterman asked, “Did you get to see Eli backstage?”

“No, his security wouldn’t let me near him. It was weird,” Gellar said. “I was trying. I was like, ‘No really, I’m just a big fan.’ I think that’s where I went wrong. ‘I just want an autograph and a lock of his hair!’ But they said ‘no.’ Awkward.”

Maybe Manning wasn’t a fan of Gellar’s Golden Globes dress either?

After watching her husband lose the Super Bowl on the final play, super model Gisele Bundchen defended her husband putting the blame on the New England Patriots wide receiving core after dropped passes by Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez. After the game, Bundchen had to walk through a crowd of Giants fans shouting, “Eli rules, Eli owns your husband.”

Bundchen was overheard saying to her entourage, “You [need] to catch the ball when you’re supposed to catch the ball. My husband cannot [expletive] throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”

Being from a popular tourist destination like Orlando, one would think the team personnel would know to plan in advance for hotel accommodations…. but the late release of the NBA schedule because of the lockout left the team with little options.

NBA officials denied the Magic’s request to fly into Indianapolis on the morning of the game for fear of bad weather or mechanical complications. Instead, the team will stay in nearby Cincinnati, allowing the team to also have the option of driving to the game.

“You guys can comment on that and save me my money,” Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters, “But when you come out with the schedule in December and have a game in the Super Bowl city, lodging might be a problem.”

But Cee Lo will not be the only boy in the midst of Material Girls. Last year’s Super Bowl performers the Black Eyed Peas revealed LMFAO will also share the stage. Will i.am told Capital FM, “I’m going to the Super Bowl this year to see my group LMFAO perform with Madonna.”
