In a marathon in Japan with only 200 meters left, Kokushikan University runner Natsuki Terada took a wrong turn allowing the runners behind him to take the lead and win the race. Terada turned right as he followed the news truck instead of following the race course. Despite the loss, Terada still took fourth place. But if you’re not first you’re last! … I wonder if he took a wrong or wong turn?
Shaquille O’Neal was on last night’s Late Show with David Letterman. While wearing a hoodie sports coat, the 20-year veteran gave the dirt on his biggest rivals in the league. When Letterman asked Shaq about Pat Riley, the former Miami Heat player would not comment and sipped his water. Shaq spent three years in Miami playing under Pat Riley. As for his former teammate and rival Kober Braynt, Shaq played nice saying, “Fabulous player. Probably the best player in the league right now.”
It appears as though Ben Roethlisberger has calmed his Big Ben ways. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback who just this past April was accused of sexually assaulting an under age girl is reportedly engaged. The lucky or unlucky lady is Ashley Harlan, who graduated from St. Francis College in 2008. The engagement happened over the holiday, and the couple plan to marry in July.
Roethlisberger started off the season with a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, and now him and Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for the playoffs. When talking to reporters about the upcoming game, Big Ben neither confirmed or denied his rumored engagement, “Oh geez. Listen, there’s always rumors out there about professional athletes, especially about me. You guys know that I am not going to talk about my own personal life, I don’t do that. My one singular focus right now is on the playoffs, on football and trying to get to the Super Bowl. So, that’s what my focus is right now.”
The Steelers have a bye the first round of the playoffs… no word if the Future Mrs. Harlan will be cheering on Roethlisberger in the stands.
LeBron James has nicknamed the Miami Heat The Heatles. The revelation came after the Heat’s 11th consecutive road win against the Charlotte Bobcats, 96-82, “I see we sell out 99.1 percent on the road, so we call ourselves the Heatles off the Beatles, so every time we take our show on the road we bring a great crowd.”
In the interview below, LeBron gets a kick out of his creative nickname. Based on the fact that LeBron didn’t know what “contraction” meant, I take it he just discovered who The Beatles were when their music came to iTunes… either that or he plays bass in Beatles RockBand.
