It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s not Dwight Howard? Now that Dwight Howard is an LA Laker he will no longer go by the nickname “Superman.” In an attempt to distance himself from Shaquille O’Neal, Howard is giving up the alter ego because of the similarities to Shaq despite both players having played for the Orlando Magic prior.
@DwightHoward asked his Twitter followers for suggestions on his new nickname, and after told reporters he will now go by “Iron Man.” Ironically, former Lakers star A.C. Green was nicknamed Iron Man because he played in an NBA record 1,192 straight games. Hopefully coaches are no longer Howard’s kryptonite.
Has Superman Dwight Howard found his Superwoman in “Goodies” singer Ciara? The newest LA Laker is dating the R&B superstar. According to Media Take Out, the couple have only been on a few dates but want to keep their relationship a secret. After Howard was criticized for causing dismay in the Orlando Magic organization, the source says, “Dwight is VERY conscious about how the public sees him . . . and he wants to be sure that him and Ciara are serious before he goes public with her.”
Last week, Howard was traded to the Lakers in a four-team deal. The trade marked the end of what Magic fans called the “Dwightmare.” The past year, Howard publicity criticized the team for not doing enough to build a championship contender. After the lockout in November, Howard requested a trade to the New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Lakers or Dallas Mavericks. Despite the request, the Magic were unable to make a deal by March, and Howard amended his contract at the trade deadline keeping him from becoming a free agent at the end of the season. In May, the Magic fired head coach Stan Van Gundy and GM Otis Smith, and not long after Howard got his wish to be traded to LA.
A veteran jersey chaser, Ciara previously dated NY Knicks Amare Stoudemir and was rumored to have had an affair with LeBron James.
Lil Wayne was banned from tonight’s Oklahoma City Thunder- San Antonio Spurs game. The rapper tweeted, “Was going to go to the Thunder game tonight but was denied by the team to be in their arena. Wow. Smh. Go Spurs!”
But it isn’t because Lil Wayne is a Spurs fan of why he is banned but rather because of Thunder guard James Harden’s girlfriend, Trina. Wayne and Trina previously dated for a year in 2007. Earlier this month, while performing a set at Miami night club Liv, Weezy professed his love for the rapstress saying, “I love you and miss you.”
Similar rumors merged during the Lakers- Spurs series that Wayne was not allowed court side. The Oklahoma City Thunder reps released a statement saying that Lil Wayne was told the game was completely sold out. While there are always tickets available for famous rappers, with the Thunder down to the Spurs 0-2, they needed one of their star players to be on their game.
