The Madden Curse is the supposed jinx on any athlete who appears on the video game cover of Madden NFL. Past victims include Vince Young, who suffered a serious quadriceps injury in 2003, and Daunte Culpepper who ended his season with a knee injury the previous year.
What has been cast off as fan superstition and unfortunate coincidences may now be coming to the Big Screen. Electronic Arts, who produces the video game, is developing a sports comedy called the “Madden Curse,” but the plot will not be what fans think….
According to Pat O’Brein, VP of EA Entertainment, “The story will follow a former Madden video game champion who is forced out of retirement just as he finds himself on the corner of the game’s cover — and subject to the curse.”
As a blogger I shift through hundreds of potential posts a day deciding what is noteworthy enough to make it on TJC… a few days ago I saw a story that NY Jets head coach Rex Ryan and his wife made foot fetish videos and posted them on YouTube. I passed it off as a complete joke and couldn’t believe other bloggers fell for the nonsense. Much to my surprise, Ryan has all but confirmed the videos are indeed of his wife Michelle.
At a press conference for the Jets’ upcoming game against the Chicago Bears this weekend, Ryan would not deny or even comment on the videos. “To be honest, and I get it, I know you need to ask and all that stuff,” Ryan said. “But it’s a personal matter and I’m really not going to discuss it, OK?
Deadspin.com broke the story after a reader noted the uncanny similarities between the woman in the video and Ryan’s wife Michelle. The videos are posted on the channel “ihaveprettyfeet” and were uploaded before 2009, just months before Ryan began his head coaching job with the Jets. A man’s voice can be heard in the background talking to Ms. “Ihaveprettyfeet,” which sounds a lot like Ryan.
Ryan has called his wife a supermodel, but apparently he thinks she is a foot model as well. By not denying the videos, many are taking it as a confirmation… guess Rex really put his foot in his mouth with this one!
Brett Favre left yesterday’s Minnesota Vikings-Chicago Bears game with a head concussion. During the second quarter, Bears tight end Corey Woottman sacked Favre, causing Favre to watch the rest of the game from the sideline as the Bears beat the Vikings 40-13. Favre missed his first start in 18 years last week with a sprained SC joint in his right shoulder. All signs point that Favre’s career is over, even telling the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, “I don’t know with this concussion, based on my decision-making, I probably shouldn’t tell you one way or the other right now. I don’t regret it. I wish it would have turned out differently.”
A Seattle Seahawks fan has filed a lawsuit against NY Jets Shaun Ellis after he threw a snowball at him back in 2008 during a playoff game. After the Jets lost to the Seahawks 13-3, Ellis expressed his frustrations by throwing a snowball at a fan in the crowd with a Seahawks sign. The victim, Robert Larson, claims he suffered both emotional and physical damage form the incident. This is what happens when West Coasters aren’t used to snow…
