Steelers Harrison will walk away from football if he can’t hit

The NFL has announced it will now be suspending players for hits to the head. While this is to protect the safety of the players, many believe the league is being hypocritical because for years the NFL has celebrated hard hits. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison was fined $75,000 for his concussion hitting hits against the Cleveland Browns this past Sunday.

Harrison opened up to Tony Bruno on FOX Sports Radio about the fine and how it may mean the end of football for him:

You literally have to think about changing the way you play football. Honestly, I’m truly considering if I can play football in the NFL by the rules that they’re trying to make. I’m honestly going to sit down with my coach and see if I can play football within the NFL rules and still be effective. If not, I may have to give up playing football.

Harrison was excused from Wednesday’s practice as he contemplated retirement but is planning to practice on Thursday. Harrison is a 3 time Pro-Bowler.
