Mets fans raise money to buy out Oilver Perez’s contract

A sports fans worst nightmare is a major contract flop. The New York Mets signed pitcher Oliver Perez to a 3-year, $36 million contract, and Perez has not lived up to expectations. This past season, Perez was 0-5 with a 6.80 ERA (Earned Run Average). Perez even refused to be reassigned to the Triple-A, so the Mets could bring up another pitcher from the minors. Now, Mets fans are taking matters into their own hands and are raising money to buy out Perez’s contract. There is $12 million left on the deal. The fan in charge of fund-raising will be collecting money until February 13, when pitchers have to report for off-season workouts.
