With the NHL locked out, players are looking for work where they can. Unfortunately for LA Kings forward Dustin Penner it doesn’t always mean getting paid. After winning the Stanely Cup in June, Penner is now an unpaid intern for the Conan O’Brien show. But this isn’t Penner’s first encounter with Conan. In July, Penner and O’Brien were in a Twitter feud, when @ConanOBrien tweeted: “It’s quiet today in LA. Reminds me of the day the Kings won the Stanley Cup.” Penner chimed back, @Dustinpenner25 “I guess being on TBS you would know what silence sounds like…” no wonder Penner wasn’t paid
Things got a little to hot for 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey, and the Cincinnati Bengals fan was kicked out of Qualcomm Stadium during the San Diego Chargers-Bengals game. TMZ posted a video of Lachey being escorated out by security, in which the boy-bander bragged on Twitter, “Just got kicked out of the chargers stadium and couldn’t be prouder! Go Cincy Bengals”
Despite being thrown out of the game, Lachey still won when the Bengals defeated the Chargers, 20-13. Lachey gloated, “Bengals win again. i’d talk trash to everyone in SD, but what’s the point? you already had me kicked out of the stadium and you still lost.”
An albatross has hung over boxing because the sport’s two best fighters, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have never fought eachother. Mayweather has already offered Pacquiao $40 million, but it may take an extra 50 Cents!
Rapper turned boxing promoter 50 Cent, whose real name is Curits Jackson, created the new promotion company SMS Promotions. Regardless that his first fight isn’t even until next week, Yahoo Sports boxing expert Kevin Iole says Jackson can deliver the knockout punch and make the Mayweather- Pacquiao fight happen.
Originally, Jackson’s promotion company was to be a joint venture with friend Mayweather, who backed out because of a $1.2 million buyout to sign boxer Yuriorkis Gamboa. Despite the feud, Iole said, “50 Cent is the right guy at the right time for boxing.” But does that mean a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight?
For a team that hasn’t won their division since 1985, being a Kansas City Royals fan has paid off big time… $192 million big time! The winner of the Powerball Jackpot used numbers of KC Royals greats to pick his winning ticket.
