Sorry for the jersey chasing hiatus, but I was on the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico for the past week. Below is what you missed while I was on vacation!
Although it was rumored Vanessa Bryant would be joining the cast of VH1′sBasketball Wives, it looks like she has her eyes for the Hills. Producers of Bravo’sReal Housewives of Beverly Hills are interested in adding the former Mrs. Kobe Bryant next season. With Camille Grammer rumored to be leaving the show and Lisa Vanderpump getting her own spin-off, Bravo execs are hoping their replacements are able to sustain the ratings as the highest rated Housewives series.
In 2009, Bravo tried to recruit Bryant to join the Orange Country franchise, but Kobe Bryant reportedly said no. Bryant is not the first jersey chaser to become a Housewife. Scottie Pippen’s wife was part of the Miami cast, which was canceled after just one season. Much like Beverly Hills cast members Brandi Glanville and Grammer, Bryant is going through a very public divorce with a settlement rumored to be $75 million and includes three of the couples’ homes.
Also on the Bravo RHOBH wish list, reality TV vet Lisa Gastineau, who had her own E! series, Gastineau Girls, with daughter Brittny from 2005-2006. Gastineau was married to NFL player Mark Gastineau before divorcing him in 1991.
Whoever thinks famous athletes have special treatment, will be surprised by the Orlando Magic. The team is without a hotel in Indianopolis when the Magic are in town to play the Indiana Pacers during Super Bowl weekend.
Being from a popular tourist destination like Orlando, one would think the team personnel would know to plan in advance for hotel accommodations…. but the late release of the NBA schedule because of the lockout left the team with little options.
NBA officials denied the Magic’s request to fly into Indianapolis on the morning of the game for fear of bad weather or mechanical complications. Instead, the team will stay in nearby Cincinnati, allowing the team to also have the option of driving to the game.
“You guys can comment on that and save me my money,” Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters, “But when you come out with the schedule in December and have a game in the Super Bowl city, lodging might be a problem.”
