Will Smith and Jada Smith part owners of 76ers

The Fresh Prince is returning to his roots. As Will Smith so famously rapped in the shows theme song, “in West Philadelphia I was born and raised,” the actor is now part owner of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Smith and his wife Jada are apart of a group led by Joshua Harris, who purchased the team from Comcast-Spectacor.

The couple and owners’ first order of business? Slashing ticket prices! At yesterday’s press conference, team CEO Adam Aron said,“I’m announcing today that going forward, we are slashing – and I mean slashing – ticket prices on individual game tickets on just under 9,000 seats at the Wells Fargo Center for each and every Sixers home game.”

Forbes valued the 76ers at $330 million, which is 17th in the league. The couple have a combined networth of $200 million. Despite the NBA lockout, Will Smith has saved the world on multiple occasions, so finding a CBA agreement should be no problem!

Pistons skip practice to protest coach

The Detroit Pistons skipped Friday’s practice in protest of head coach John Kuester. A team spokesperson listed off the laundry list of excuses that would rival those of baseball’s Opening day. While all the players had excuses, an inside source told the Detroit Free Press, that the protest was pre-orchastrated.  The only players who partipated in the morning shoot around were Greg Monroe, Will Bynum, Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Jason Maxiell and DaJuan Summers.

The Pistons play the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, and coach Kuester said he would go with the players who were avavlible. Tension is at an all-time high for the struggling Pistons. The Stones, who are a dismal 21-38, are in the process of being sold… that is, if there is a team to buy!
