SD Chargers may lose draft pick from using banned substance

The NFL has a sticky situation on their hands, the San Diego Chargers were caught using a banned substance called Stickum, to give the team a competitive advantage to holding onto the ball.

The adhesive substance was confiscated during the Charger’s Oct. 15 game against the Denver Broncos.  Despite the performance enhancing goo, the Broncos won the game, 35-24. The substance was sent to both Broncos and league offices, and the Chargers now face a fine and a possible loss of a draft pick.

But according to Chargers head coach Norv Turner, no Stickum was used. “Nobody in this organization has used Stickum in any game,”Turner said. “The question involved a towel that has been used by this organization for over 10 years. It’s used by a lot of teams in this league. The towel is used to dry the balls, dry the gloves that the players wear and their arms. The league is looking into the towel. That’s about where it’s at.”
