The Alabama-Auburn college rivalary has turned deadly at leas to two 130-year old oak trees. The historic trees at Auburn University’s Toomer’s Corner were poisoned by the herbicide Spike 80DF commonly used to kill trees was applied 65-times the legal amount.

The University investigated and was led to Alabama radio host Paul Finebaum’s show when a caller called in and said he was responsible for poisoning the trees.

Almorn Updyke, 62, told Finebaum, “The weekend after the Iron Bowl I went to Auburn, Alabama, because I live 30 miles away, and I poisoned the 2 Toomer’s trees.”

Finebaum was arrested by Auburn Police and charged with criminal mischief… talk about poision oak!
