The writer of the famed Chicago Bears song, “The Super Bowl Shuffle” is taking media conglomerate Viacom to court. Julia Meyer is claiming MTV and VH1 played the hit song without permission.
The song was written in 1985 when the Bears won the Super Bowl. Interest in the song is up because its 25th anniversary is approaching. In Meyer’s lawsuit against the parent company of both VH1 and MTV, she says that Viacom is undermining potential sales of the song as its silver anniversary approaches.
The single sold more than 500,000 copies when it first released.
Michael Jordan has denied any involvement in the Michael Jordan/ LeBron James “Maybe You Should Rise” spoof.
“I had absolutely nothing to do with it, Nike had absolutely nothing to do with it,” Jordan told the Associated Press.
Jordan says he found out about the video when one of his son forwarded it to him. The video has been making the internet rounds and was even tweeted by Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan. In just under two weeks, almost 5 million people have seen the spoof that looks so real Michael Jordan is having to respond about the video himself.
Athlete Dougie videos never get old. During the Detroit Lions Chicago Bears game, Lions QB Drew Stanton celebrated his first ever NFL touchdown by doing the Dougie in the end zone. Stanton got the start as Matthew Stafford still suffers from a shoulder injury. Too bad for Stafford, the Lions lost to the Bears, 24-20 and sly dance moves don’t count for fantasy points.
The University of Cincinnati mascot has been arrested for snowing snowballs during the Cincinnati Pittsburgh game. The Bearcat was escorted out by security for throwing snowballs, and then arrested after he pushed a security guard. Luckily, the game went on as Cincinnati had a backup mascot on call (true story). Cincy not only lost their mascot but also lost the game 28-10.
Too bad for him a fan caught it all on video, watch it above and see the mascot’s face, as police have him on the ground while handcuffing him. Rule No.1 in mascots is never to reveal their your identity.
Is it just me or does having a bearcat as your mascot seem pretty indecisive? Who knew they even existed…
