Congratulations to Ashley Judd on her husband Dario Franchitti’s third Indianapolis 500 win. Franchitti became just the 10th driver in the race’s 96 year history to win three or more 500s. With a record 30 lead changes, Franchitti won in the lap last with Takuma Sato losing control of his car. ”[It's] just such an extraordinary achievement,” Judd told the Los Angeles Times. “I am so proud of him.” Franchitti previously won the Indy 500 in 2007 and 2010.
In memory of Dan Weldon, Franchitti wore white sunglasses during the race. Weldon was a two-time Indy 500 winner who was killed in a crash last October in Las Vegas during the Indy 300. Weldon’s wife Susie congratulated Franchitti and Judd in Victory Lane and joined the couple in the pace car for the winner’s lap.
Judd and Franchitti married in 2001 in Scottland after meeting at racecar driver and 90210 almun Jason Priestley’s wedding. Franchitti’s victory just adds to a great sports year for Judd, after seeing her beloved Kentucky Wildcats win the NCAA Championship in April.
Amid internet reports that Charlie Sheen bought Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl ring, the actor went on the Dan Patrick Show and set the record straight saying, “As much as I would be honored to own such an important artifact… I had nothing to do with the acquisition.” The ring would have added to Sheen’s collection, who already owns Babe Ruth’s 1927 World Series ring.
The rumor first went viral when Jay Glazer of Fox Sports tweeted: “Got no idea if this is true but if is it’s hilarious. Lawrence Taylor & his agent Mark Lepselter were told last night winning bidder for LT’s Super Bowl Ring was none other than Charlie Sheen!!!”
The hall of fame linebacker has fallen under hard times, and last year was sentenced to six years probation for sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute. But It was Taylor’s son who decided to auction off the Super Bowl XXV championship ring with SCP Auctions, selling for $230,000
Erin Andrews is jersey chasing Tony Romo’s brother-in-law. Chace Crawford’s sister is married to the Dallas Cowboys quarterback and is rumored to be dating the ESPN sideline reporter and host of College Game Day. US Weekly is reporting that the couple have gone on a few dates and were seen at dinner in New York. Despite the eight-year age difference, according to the US Weekly insider, “Chace likes that she’s independent and already established.”
The usually coy Andrews is denying the report… subtley Andrews retweeted her rep Lewis Kay’s tweet: ”Would be more interesting if it was true.” The tweet is in constract to Andrews’ past rumored relationships. During her Dancing With The Stars season, Andrews refrained from commenting on whether she and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were dating. Whether they are or they aren’t, the timing of the story coincides nicley with the release of Crawford’s first major movie What To Expect, When You’re Expecting.
In this economy, it is common for fans to jump seats to get closer to the action but be careful! Off-duty NYC police officer Eduardo Cornejo was arrested for seat stealing at Citi Field. Cornejo, who had a ticket to Wednesday’s Mets-Cincinnati Reds game, is being charged with trespassing.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said, “He (Cornejo) was in a section he wasn’t supposed to be, they asked him to leave. He wouldn’t. A supervisor asked him to leave. He wouldn’t. The uniformed police sergeant asked him to leave. He wouldn’t, and he was arrested as a result.”
Despite the arrest, Cornejo is not letting it effect his love for the Mets. Cornejo was wearing a NY Mets hat at his home in Staten Island when a NY Post writer asked for a comment. The worst part of the story is the Mets didn’t even win the game, falling to the Reds 6-2.
