After the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team clinched their sport in the Final Four, they were congratulated by Jay-Z in the locker room… but hanging with Hova comes at a price and has prompted an NCAA investigation. Under NCAA regulations, NBA owners are not allowed to interact with collegiate athletes. Because Jay-Z is co-owner of the New Jersey Nets he is prohbited from having any contact with amateur athletes.
In 2007, Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge was fined $30,000 for sitting with then University of Texas star freshme Kevin Durant’s mom. Lucky for Jay-Z, $30,000 is nothing!
In the security breach of all security breaches… a group of Columbian soccer fans brought a 17-year old’s dead body to a Onceno Rojinegro soccer game after he was murdered just hours earlier. The fans figured they would pay tribute to the soccer fan, Cristopher Alexander Jacome Sanguino, who was gunned down by a hit man while playing soccer at a park. The shooting happened in the dangerous Columbian Bellavista neighborhood.
Sanguino’s mourners were able to sneak the casket into the game by lying to both the police and security by saying the other had given them permission to bring the body into the game
And people think it’s weird I have brought an octopus to a hockey game?!?
A home rented by Evan Longoria and three other Tampa Bay Rays teammates for spring training was robbed this weekend. Longoria, David Price and Reid Brignac had over $50,000 of personal items stolen from their rented home while the team played a game at Charlotte Sports Park.
”They took pretty much everything that was ours inside the house,” Longoria said. Among the stolen items include: Xboxs, iPads, watches, laptops and Longoria’s AK-47.
The fact that Longoria had a gun in the home of his spring training camp residence has raised some eyebrows amoung Rays fans, but according to the sherrif investigating the case, the gun is perfectly legal.
Though Longoria declined to go into detail he did say, “It’s a personal item. Obviously they’re going to say things that are taken. I think everything within the house is personal and we’ll just leave it at that.”
Longoria was a victim of theft earlier in spring training when his 1967 Camaro was stolen from an autobody shop in Arizona. Police do not think the crimes are related. And I thought stealing was encouraged in baseball?!?
Jersey Chaser Cameron Diaz is green lighting a movie project about a baseball romantic comedy and wants her Yankee slugger boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, to star in it. According to the Daily Express, “Cameron actually has an idea for a romantic comedy set around Major League Baseball…She’s very excited about developing her own projects and the fact this one is about a baseball player means she has good reason to spend more time with A-Rod and the Yankees.”
In the past, A-Rod has been known to be very supportive of his girlfriend’s careers, evening playing Madonna in the Yankees clubhouse. Diaz and Rodriguez started dating last summer, and though the couple split in the fall, things seem to be better than ever. Get the popcorn ready!
