Whoever thinks famous athletes have special treatment, will be surprised by the Orlando Magic. The team is without a hotel in Indianopolis when the Magic are in town to play the Indiana Pacers during Super Bowl weekend.
Being from a popular tourist destination like Orlando, one would think the team personnel would know to plan in advance for hotel accommodations…. but the late release of the NBA schedule because of the lockout left the team with little options.
NBA officials denied the Magic’s request to fly into Indianapolis on the morning of the game for fear of bad weather or mechanical complications. Instead, the team will stay in nearby Cincinnati, allowing the team to also have the option of driving to the game.
“You guys can comment on that and save me my money,” Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters, “But when you come out with the schedule in December and have a game in the Super Bowl city, lodging might be a problem.”
In a case of mistaken identity, Carlos Boozer’s son is seen cheering for the Miami Heat during yesterday’s Chicago Bulls-Heat matchup. Boozer has faced his fair share of criticism for lack of defensive and inconsistent play, and apparently his son agrees.
The Dallas Mavericks social media team has begun to have players perform dramatic readings of popular songs in “A Reading With the Champ”. Watch shooting guard Jason Terry’s rendition of MC Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This.”
What do you do with $75 million? If you are Vanessa Bryant go on reality TV. The former wife of Kobe Bryant is being heavily recurited by the producers of VH1′s Basketball Wives.
TMZ is reportingthat “producers never dreamed of approaching Vanessa while she was married to Kobe … and our sources say Vanessa would NOT have been receptive.”
Basketball Wives is now the highest rated show on VH1, and with an expanded budget producers are hoping to lure Vanessa with a lucrative offer. Not that Vanessa needs the money, along with the $75 million settlment, Vanessa walked away with three of the couple’s houses.
