Ben & Jerry Linsanity ice cream under scrutiny

America has gone linsane over NY Knicks underdog phenomenon Jeremy Lin. Taking advantage of the marketing opportunity, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream released a special edition “Taste the Lin-Sanity” fro-yo. The vanilla frozen yogurt, with swirls of lychee honey and fortune-cookie pieces was only sold at the Harvard Square location in Cambridge, Massachusetts in honor of Lin’s alma mater.

But now Ben & Jerry is under scrutiny by Asian Americans because the ice cream perpetuated stereotypes. The company has released a statement apologising, “Our intention was to create a flavor to honor Jeremy Lin’s accomplishments and his meteoric rise in the NBA, and recognize that he was a local Harvard graduate. We try to demonstrate our commitment as a Boston-based, valued-led business and  if we failed in this instance, we offer our sincere apologies.”

Oakland Raiders QB stands up bride at the altar

Oakland Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell is known for his passing, but off the field has a pretty solid running game. The runaway groom left his fiance at the altar at their wedding this past weekend. Campbell was set to marry his on-and-off girlfriend of five years Jenny Montes. Guests flew down to the Dominican Republic, but the nuptials were called off just hours before the ceremony.

Campbell denies standing up his bride at the altar, telling CSN Bay Area it is not in his character. Friends of the bride say she is devestated. In 2009, San Antonio Spurs player Richard Jefferson called off his wedding just two hours before never showing up to the hotel.

Vanessa Bryant to join cast of Real Housewives Beverly Hills

Although it was rumored Vanessa Bryant would be joining the cast of VH1′s Basketball Wives, it looks like she has her eyes for the Hills. Producers of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are interested in adding the former Mrs. Kobe Bryant next season. With Camille Grammer rumored to be leaving the show and Lisa Vanderpump getting her own spin-off, Bravo execs are hoping their replacements are able to sustain the ratings as the highest rated Housewives series.

In 2009, Bravo tried to recruit Bryant to join the Orange Country franchise, but Kobe Bryant reportedly said no. Bryant is not the first jersey chaser to become a Housewife. Scottie Pippen’s wife was part of the Miami cast, which was canceled after just one season. Much like Beverly Hills cast members Brandi Glanville and Grammer, Bryant is going through a very public divorce with a settlement rumored to be $75 million and includes three of the couples’ homes.

Also on the Bravo RHOBH wish list, reality TV vet Lisa Gastineau, who had her own E! series, Gastineau Girls, with daughter Brittny from 2005-2006. Gastineau was married to NFL player Mark Gastineau before divorcing him in 1991.
