Katherine Webb caught the attention of millions when she was shown during the BCS National Championship game. With ESPN’s Brent Musburger saying, “You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women. What a beautiful woman! So if you’re a youngster in Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pops.”
But the Alabama youngsters may also want to practice their shuffle-ball-chains. Webb is rumored to be a contestant on the next season of Dancing with the Stars. Already capitalizing on her over night fame, the Miss Alabama will be featured in the upcoming Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and covering the Super Bowl for Inside Addition.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver and the newest winner of Dancing With The Stars is struggling with his new fame from the show. Despite catching more passes than any other Green Bay Packers receiver, more people know Driver from the celebrity dance competition.
The 13-year NFL veteran told ESPN Radio’s Scott Van Pelt, “As a dancer at this point. I think it’s more of the men, they still look at you as the NFL player but I think the women now look at you as ‘hey that’s that guy who was on Dancing With the Stars, he won it.’ Then they say ‘oh yeah that is Donald Driver.’ No one cares about you playing football anymore; they do care about you winning Dancing With the Stars though.”
Driver has had a busy off season including restructuring his contract with the Green Bay Packers, keeping him with the team until retirement.
After winning the competition last week Driver said, “It took me 13 years to win a Super Bowl. But it only took me one season to win a mirror ball. I’ve been watching the show for a long time and now I know what J.R. felt last year. That is truly something special. I feel the same way. Right now I’m on cloud nine.”
Will Tim Tebow be the next NFL player to trade in his cleats for his dancing shoes? Dancing with the Stars’ Karina Smirnoff is campaigning for the Denver Broncos quarterback to join the cast of the celebrity dance competition.
Smirnoff told People.com, ““All I want for my birthday is for Tim Tebow to dance on Dancing with the Stars. Tim is a very talented athlete, that was clear when we saw his performance this past season with Denver.”
But Smirnoff is not alone in catching Tebowmania, producers of the show are also interested in the highly controversial quarterback. The 14th Season of Dancing With The Stars does not premire until March. Past NFL players include Emmit Smith, Jerry Rice, Chad Ochocinco, Hines Ward and Kurt Warner.
With no end in sight to the NBA lockout, players are turning to the dance floor.
Ron Artest has been confirmed as the newest contestant on Dancing With The Stars, and it looks like he will not be the only NBA player to be competing during the lock out…. CBS Sports is reporting Dwyane Wade is also to be in the running to win the Crystal Ball Trophy.
Fellow athlete and former winner Hines Ward confirmed the rumors and told Sports Radio Interviews: “I don’t know, but I did hear rumors and his name did come up. I also heard Ron Artest too.”
The official lineup will be announced after tomorrow’s episode of The Bachelor Pad. No word yet if Wade joins the cast LeBron and Chris Bosh will come as a packaged deal.
