Despite not playing in the NBA for almost a decade, Michael Jordan still dominates the basketball world causes hysteria over the release of his latest shoe, Nike Air Jordan XI Retro Concord. The shoe, which went on sale on Friday, retails for $175 and was first released 20 years ago. The Retro Concords are modeled after the shoes designed for Jordan in 1996… but people still want to be Like Mike.
In Lithonia, Georgia, four people were arrested after they broke down a store door trying to get the shoes, forcing 20 squad cars to respond. At Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan shoppers were trampled after people started lining up at 4am. “One kid was trampled and hurt his arm, maybe even broke it,” said Troy Police Department Public Information Officer Andy Breidenich.

In a new survey conducted by Forbes, Kris Humphries is the most disliked player in the NBA. According to Forbes, “Apparently when you become better known for a quickie marriage to Kim Kardashian than for your play on the court, you aren’t popular.”
After spending the NBA lockout as a free agent, Humphries resigned with his 2010-2011 team the New Jersey Nets for a one-year $8 million contract. In his first game back, Humphries was booed off the court in an exhibition game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Fans at the Garden even chanted, “We want Humphries.”
But being married to a Kardashian… even if for 72-days has groomed him to handle the media. When asked about the heckling, Humphries told a reporter, “No, I was so focused on the game, I couldn’t hear that, bro.
The world was shocked at the new of North Korean leader Kim Jon Il’s sudden death of a heart attack. The White House said Monday it is too early to tell whether the leader’s death opens the door for better relations with the U.S. Not much is known about the new leader, Kim Jon Il’s son Kim Jong-un. In fact, only one picture exsisted of Kim Jong-un until 2010, but according to a childhood friend the new leader of the DPRK is a big NBA fan.
Joao Micaelo revealed to CNN that growing up the future dictator loved playing basektball, playing basketball videos on PlayStation and was a big fan of Michael Jordan. “The whole world for him was just basketball all the time,” Micaelo told CNN.
Good thing the five-month NBA lock out was resolved before the leader of the 8th nuclear weapons country came into power. But fear not NBA fans, according to Micaelo, “I can just say what I know, when he was 16, he was a good guy, so I don’t think he would do something bad.”
It seems as if there wasn’t a big enough diamound to save their marriage, and Kobe Bryant’swife has filed for divorce. Vanessa Bryant is citing irreconcilable differences, ending the couple’s 10 1/12 year marriage. According to TMZ, the marriage ended because Vanessa believes her husband was unfaithful. In 2003, Vanessa stood by her husband after Kobe was charged with sexually assaulting a Colorado woman. At the same time, Kobe gave Vanessa a $4 million engagement ring.
In the legal documents, Vanessa is requesting joint custody of their 2 daughters, 8-year-old Natalia and 5-year-old Gianna but is asking Kobe be granted visitation rights. The couple do not have a prenup.
It was reported that Vanessa Bryant had a long standing fued with rival Laker wife Khloe Kardashian.Last week, Lamar Odom was traded from the Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks. Despite the reported Vanessa-Khloe fued, Kobe was outspoken about the trade.
“You’re talking about the sixth man of the year last year,” Kobe said. ”I mean, he played lights out. I don’t understand the criticism of reality shows and this, that and the other. I don’t get it. I don’t understand it. He had his best season last season. It clearly wasn’t a distraction. He played his ass off.”
