Brooklyn Nets getting reality show

It looks like the Kris Humphries is making his return to reality TV!

NBA TV will chronicle the Brooklyn Nets’ made for TV season in their new city and new arena in a series called “The Association.”  According to the New York Times, the league will make the official announcement tomorrow with the first episode airing on October 16. “The Association” follows a similar format to the popular HBO series “Hard Knocks.”

The Nets, who are partly owned by Jay-Z, are the fourth team featured on “The Association,” following the Los Angeles Lakers (2009-10), the Boston Celtics (2010-11) and the Denver Nuggets (2011-12).

Showtime attempted a similar reality series venture by following the Miami Marlins in Season 2 of the “The Franchise.” Like the Nets, the Marlins were embarking on a new name and a new stadium but the docu-series was canceled after 7-epsidoes. Both the Marlins and MLB Network were in mutual agreement to cut the season prematurely after the Marlins, who were an NL East favorite, had a disastrous season finishing August at 55-66. Here’s

s hoping there is no reality jinx for Brooklyn’s first major sports team since the Dodgers left in 1958!

Showtime reality show on San Francisco Giants

With the success of rival HBO’s sports reality series, Showtime has decided to hop on board and create a series chronicling the San Francisco Giants quest to win a second straight World Series. According to Entertainment Weekly, “Showtime is in early talks with producer Mike Tollin to do a docuseries that focuses on the San Francisco Giants.”

Tollin has already produced acclaimed sports documentary Bonds on Bonds... or for you non-sports fans Varsity Blues or One Tree Hill.

I just hope Brian Wilson’s “Machine” is cast on the show….
