UFC fighter Jacob Volkmann told a reporter he wanted to beat up President Obama as his next opponent. Though Volkmann back pedaled and said he was only joking, the threat prompted an investigation by Secret Service and has now cost Volkmann his job.
Volkmann is an assistant wrestling coach at a Minnesota high school. In an interview with Fox News Radio, Volkmann said, “They didn’t like how I was representing the school… They said I was representing them bad because of what I said about the president and his policies.”
With the success of rival HBO’s sports reality series, Showtime has decided to hop on board and create a series chronicling the San Francisco Giants quest to win a second straight World Series. According to Entertainment Weekly, “Showtime is in early talks with producer Mike Tollin to do a docuseries that focuses on the San Francisco Giants.”
Tollin has already produced acclaimed sports documentary Bonds on Bonds... or for you non-sports fans Varsity Blues or One Tree Hill.
I just hope Brian Wilson’s “Machine” is cast on the show….

Just after the Cleveland Cavaliers suffered their worst loss in franchise history, LeBron James called his former team out on Twitter. The Cavs lost to the LA Lakers 112-57 Wednesday night, when LeBron wrote on the social networking site to say: “Crazy. Karma is a b****.. Gets you every time. Its not good to wish bad on anybody. God sees everything!”
When asked by reporters about the tweet, LeBron said: “It was just how I was feeling at the time. It wasn’t even a comment from me. It was someone who sent it to me and I sent it out….No hit toward that organization. I’ve moved on. Hopefully that organization has continued to move on. But I’m happy where I am as a Miami Heat player.”
Good thing the Cavs switched hotels!
Brett Favre’s sister was arrested in rural Mississippi when police raided a house for making crystal meth. The notorious quarterback’s younger sister, Brandi Favre, 34, is being charged with manufacturing of methamphetamine and generation of hazardous waste and is expected to appear in court Thursday morning. Five people were arrested in total. According to SunHearld.com, police found the drug being made in a bath tub in the apartment. Glad to see Mr. Favre is sharing the headlines with other members of his family….
* A Brandi Favre on Facebook, is listed as living in Gulfport, Mississippi (where Brett Favre was born) and also says she has a 3-year old daughter. Note: this is a TJC assumption and has not been confirmed, but this Brandi Favre also “likes” the page “Brett Favre the Viking,” and let’s face it… not many people do, so it must be her.
