RIP Sparky Anderson

Legendary baseball manager Sparky Anderson has passed away at age 83 due to complications of demetia. Anderson was the first manager to win a World Series in both leagues (Detroit Tigers 1984, Cincinnati Reds 1975 & 1976). As a Detroit girl and Tigers fan this was very sad. As I was looking through YouTube, I found this PSA announcement from the 80s that sums up Sparky’s persona.

Mario Lemieux tells Sidney Crosby: No TV for figthing

The picture above is of Pittsburgh Penguins captain and hockey golden boy Sidney Crosby fighting Dallas Stars’ Matt Niskanen. This is Crosby’s fifth fight in his NHL career. The altercation came late in the game as the Penguins were down 4-1. Normally, players do Crosby’s dirty work for him, but he tried the tactic to rally the troops. Unfortunately, it did not work as the Penguins lost 5-2.

I suspect after the game was over, Penguins owner and hockey legend Mario Lemieux grounded Crosby from TV for a month. Crosby has taken a lot of flack for living with Lemieux from 2005 until this season.

Jersey Chasing in Action: Video Gamecocks fan crying after loss to Kentucky

A jersey chaser after our own heart… this girl’s boyfriend video taped her after South Carolina lost to Kentucky. With reason this girl was very upset after her Gamecocks beat No.1 Alabama then lost to the unranked Wildcats 31-28. The No.28 Gamecocks shouldn’t have any problem bouncing back, but chances are slim this girl is still with her boyfriend after this video went viral.

I’m just happy no one had a flip cam when the Red Wings lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 during the 09 Cup Finals.

Rob Schneider will be the master of cermony for Giants victory parade

Google Analytics tells me that you guys love celebrity news, so I thought it was only fitting to report how die-hard San Francisco Giants’ fan Rob Schneider will be the master of ceremony for the team’s World Series parade. Schneider was born and raised in San Francisco. Although the SNL alumn is a Lakers’ fan, he hasn’t gotten too Hollywood as he still roots for him hometeam. Schneider has participated in Giants’ pregame activities and charity events in the past.

The parade will start at 11am Pacific time, with record crowds expected since fans started lining up before dawn.
