If you are going out of the country, maybe it is best not to tell the media. White Sox GM Kenny Williams was on a scouting trip to the Dominican Republic when his house was broken into. The Chicago-area man stole clothing, jewelry and Williams’ 2005 World Series ring.
But the burglar didn’t stop there, drinking Williams’ beer, defrosting a lobster and surfing the web.
The intruder left behind a hospital bracelet, which helped police put the man behind bars, when police found him wearing Williams’ clothes and the GM’s 2005 World Series ring.
The man is expected to be in bond court on Tuesday, and no it is not Ozzie Guillen.
Cashman slept in a NYC alley outside of the Covenant House Crisis Center on 41st Street to raise awareness of homelessness. The Covenant House assists more than 50,000 children a year across the country, and last night sponsored the CEO Solidarity Sleepout, where 50 New York business leaders slept on the streets raising money for the charity.
Cashman told the NY Post, “Can you imagine this as reality? It’s hard to think about, let alone do.”
Lucky for baseball players, they do not have to worry about being homeless since the owners and players association agreed to a tentative verbal agreement on a five-year labor contract… now the NBA that’s another story.
It may be the offseasn but baseball fans can get excited for May 20 when the San Francisco Giants give away Brian Wilson Garden Gnomes when the Oakland A’s visit.
Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos has been kidnapped from his native Venezuela. The 24-year old is spending winter in Venezuela to play with the Tigres de Aragua.
According to the Washington Post: Four people, armed, went into Ramos’s family’s house Wednesday night and took Ramos, and only Ramos, out of the house, put him in a green vehicle and sped away, according to multiple news reports out of Venezuela.
