Cubs fan buys Red Sox domain

Although the Theo Epstein compensation has finally come to a resolution, the Boston Red Sox have another headache from the Chicago Cubs on their hands. A Cubs fan bought the domain name to Boston’s new spring training park, JetBlue Park at Fenway South. Eric Engelman is a Fort Myers resident and life long Cubs fan. After seeing the naming rights story on the local news, Engelman bought the domain name for $8.00 on his wife’s GoDaddy account and redirected the website to NewYorkYankees.com

Unbeknownst to the Red Sox front office, Red Sox senior adviser Charlie Steinberg was made aware of the website blunder at a press conference when he typed jetbluepark.com onto his phone. Steinberg told media and Sam Kennedy, executive vice president and chief operating officer, “We’re going to have to look into that.”

NY Yankees GM sleeping on the streets?

New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman may manage a payroll of $200 million, but the Senior Vice-President of one of sports’ most powerful organizations spent Wednesday night sleeping on the streets.

Cashman slept in a NYC alley outside of the Covenant House Crisis Center on 41st Street to raise awareness of homelessness.  The Covenant House assists more than 50,000 children a year across the country, and last night sponsored the CEO Solidarity Sleepout, where 50 New York business leaders slept on the streets raising money for the charity.

Cashman told the NY Post, “Can you imagine this as reality? It’s hard to think about, let alone do.”

Lucky for baseball players, they do not have to worry about being homeless since the owners and players association agreed to a tentative verbal agreement on a five-year labor contract… now the NBA that’s another story.

Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly break up!

Our jersey chaser of the month Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter have broken up! The couple, who have been dating for three years, confirmed the news to People, “They care about each other and it was amicable,” says a source. “They’re still friends.”

The breakup comes just a month after the very private pair spoke about their relationship in the HBO documentary on Jeter’s 3,000th hit. In Derek Jeter 3K, Kelly joked about baseball IQ, “I didn’t know the difference between a run and a homerun.” Talk about a curveball!

While Kelly has become a regular fixture at Yankees Stadium, her schedule has kept her busy as she films the new Charlies Angels series down in Miami. Jeter’s Yankees are battling for a playoff position and are one game back from the Boston Red Sox.

While I feel for Minka… the good news is there is still a chance for the rest of us!

Former Yankees batboy reveals players secrets

Ex-New York Yankees batboy Luis Castillo lived every baseball fan’s fantasy and is now revealing team secrets to the New York Post… even how he got the nickname of Squeegee by Derek Jeter himself. According to Castillo, Jeter would great him and fellow batboys by saying, “‘How’re you doin’, biatches?’ Bee-atch-es. You’d turn around and say to yourself, Hunh? Was that Derek Jeter who waltzed past, the team captain, the man who is — in the public eye — a model of correctness and good taste?”

Castillo started his tenure with the Yankees when he was just 14 but later served as a clubhouse assistant. Though a committed man now to our Jersey Chaser of the Month, Jeter used his trainer to pick up woman in New York night clubs. “.He would ask the trainer to go up to the woman and tell her that Derek Jeter wanted to talk with her. Then he would leave the bar first and wait for her. I would often see groups of women giggling and leaving with the trainer, who would lead them to their rendezvous with the captain.”

While Castillo didn’t rearrange booty calls for Jeter, he did have to lay out clothes and put toothpaste on his toothbrush for Alex Rodriguez.

“Jeter and some of the other guys were terrific tippers. Roger Clemens gave me $3,000 at the end of the year. Posada gave me $7,000. A-Rod might come in with $1,400. Sure, it’s still a sizable amount, but when he found out that other players were tipping higher, he had to imitate them, and he bumped his tips up.” Castillo said. “He had to make sure he was the best tipper in the league. He even tipped me $100 a week to make sure there was a creatine shake waiting for him after each home game.”

Wonder if Cameron Diaz has to make his creatine shake now?
