Always looking for an excuse to party… the city of Pittsburgh is holding a rally to congratulate Hines Ward on winning the 12th season of Daning With The Stars. Though he won back in May, he will be honored as he should be with a rally and celebration at the City County Building on Thursday.
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said, “City residents and the Steelers Nation have contacted my office asking for the city to properly thank our hometown hero for once-again shining the spotlight on Pittsburgh.”
Joining Ward at the ceremony will be his dancing partner Kym Johnson, and the day will be officially deemed Hines Ward and Kym Johnson Day.
“I am back to thank the city of Pittsburgh and Steelers Nation for all their support during Dancing With the Stars,” Ward said in a statement. “I wanted to win this trophy for the city of champions and for the greatest fans in the world.”
After making it to the Super Bowl in Feburary, I am sure Pittsburgh fans were hoping Ward would be bringing a different trophy back to the city…
NFL superstar Adrian Peterson charged peewee football players $199 to attend his football camp. Although attendees were promised motivational talks and mentoring by the NFL star Peterson canceled on the camp just days before.
According to Peterson, he was chosen by the NFL Network to be in the NFL Top 100 Program, which caused a scheduling conflict to film the special. ProCamps apologized saying, “Although we are saddened to hear that he won’t be able to attend his camp, we congratulate Adrian on the honor.” Only problem is, the NFL Network denied any wrongdoing saying they are not filming with the NFL superstar until July!
After being outed by the NFL network, ProCamps back peddled issuing refunds, and Peterson issued the statement saying, “I hosted camps in Palestine and Tyler, Texas, last week that went great. Due to ProCamps misunderstanding of my schedule, I was never able to host this year’s Norman camp on their scheduled dates, but look forward to being back in 2012.”

It looks like Cam Newton will be going from $100,000 man to Hard Knocks… the Carolina Panthers are the lead candidate to be featured on the new season of Hard Knocks. The HBO original series chronicles an NFL team’s training camp and upcoming season preparations. Panthers center Ryan Kalil tweeted, “Reliable source telling me possible reality sports doc TV series coming to NC after today’s media presence covering Panther POTA’s.”
This season is especially competitive because of the NFL lockout. Despite other teams’ interest, including the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos, the Panthers are said to be the front runner because of first overall draft pick Newton. Already proclaiming himself as an entertainer and icon, Newton is no stranger to controversy, after reports surfaced that Newton accepted money to play college football at Auburn.
