Atlanta Falcons pull Gossip Girl sabotage on Tampa Bay Buccaneers radio headsets

During Sunday’s NFL games, fans were left at the edge of their seats as they watched a close game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with the Falcons ultimately winning 27-21.

But now there are accusations the Falcons cheated, and they purposely sabotaged the radio headsets between QB Josh Freeman and the Bucs coaching staff. Late in the 4th quarter, the Buccaneers had a chance to take the lead where they were in touchdown position at the fourth yard line. At 3rd and three, Freeman lost communication on his radio headset and did not know which play the coaches wanted him to call. Freeman was forced to call a timeout and failed to score a touchdown on 4th down.

Now Bucs writer Rick Stroud is reporting that Tampa Bay suspects foul play. Stroud tweeted: “Bucs coach Raheem Morris says the coach to QB radio ‘mysteriously,’ went off in ATL after one play near the goal line, forcing a timeout.” I don’t doubt the truth of his allegation based on what we saw.”

Back in 2007, the New England Patriots were caught video taping New York Jets practices in what was dubbed Spygate. During the NFL’s investigation, there were also allegations the Patriots tampered with the visiting opponents’ headsets to cut off communication. The headsets are controlled by the home team and seems plausible but shady.

Former athletes jock the vote in midterm election

While Republicans took control of the House in yesterday’s midterm elections, there were winners and losers for five former professional athletes who also ran for office.

Former NFL player Jon Runyan  won the New Jersey US House of Representatives in the 3rd Congressional District.  Runyan defeated incumbent  John Adler in a close race. Runyan ran saying he was against health care reform and is a former U of M football player. The former Philadelphia Eagles tackle also helped the Tennessee Titans reach the Super Bowl in 2000.

Democrat Heath Shuler won reelection for  North Carolina House of Representative. Shuler considers himself a conservative democratic. Though Shuler was a quaterback and drafted third overall in the 1994 draft, he only played four years in the NFL.  Shuler has been North Carolina’s 11 district rep since 2007, making his career as a Congressman longer than his career in the NFL.

Republican Shawn Bradley, a former 7 ’6″ NBA center, came up short in his race for Utah’s State House of  Representatives for District 44.  Bradley was quoted by the Wall Street Journal saying, “As a professional entertainer in sports, you get a lot of real-world experience in a world that’s not very real—which is a lot of what politics are.”

Republican and former NFL player Keith Fimian also lost in his election for the US House of Representative seat for the 11th District of Virginia. This was Fimian’s second stint at a run for the House. Fimian ran in 2008 but was defeated by incumbent and reelected Gerry Connolly. But not all is lost for Fimian, the margin is so small between Fimian and Connolly that a recount is pending.

In a race too close to call is NBA center Chris Dudley run for Governor of Oregon. As of Wednesday morning, Republican nominee Dudley had a one percent lead over Democratic nominee John Kitzhaber by about 18,000 votes. Dudley has no previous political experience but won 40% of the vote in the GOP primaries.

One sports star who will not be running for political office is LA Lakers coach Phil Jackson. In an interview with the LA Times about the midterm elections, Jackson said: “It’s just been awful, the ads. The substance has just been awful. I don’t know anybody that doesn’t put a mute on their TV when the ads come on.”

Randy Moss is a pickey eater

Randy Moss was released by the Minnesota Vikings after being signed less than a month ago. According to Michael Silver of  Yahoo Sports, Moss’ behavior was a factor in the decision to place the future Hall of Famer on waivers. Silver reported that Moss threw a temper tantrum about the food that was served to him after the Vikings’ practice on Friday.  Tinucci’s Restaurant of St. Paul was serving the Viking players lunch when Moss said, “What the [expletive]? Who ordered this crap? I wouldn’t feed this to my dog!”

Restaurant owner Gus Tinucci said two Vikings employees later apologized for Moss’ remarks and that it wasn’t out of the ordinary for Moss to say that.

Tinucci told USA Today a member of the Vikings’ staff said: “Don’t worry about it, Gus, he’s an (expletive).  He’s done this every time we’ve had food.”

One person who did not think it was a laughing matter was quarterback Brett Favre: “If (Brett) Favre would have had a ball, he would have beaned him right in the head,” Tinucci said. “Favre looked at him like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ “

Tinucci does not expect Moss’ remarks to interfere with him being invited back again to cater the Vikings’ practices, as he has already done it on more than one occasion.

As for Moss, he will test his luck on waivers.

LeBron wants you to know he is NOT dating Kim Kardashian

Mediatakeout.com reported LeBron James was dating Kim Kardashian, but he quickly took to his Twitter to deny the rumor: “MTO is the most disgusting site in the world! All they do is try to ruin people lives and talk bad upon them.”

LeBron was quick to defend his newly engaged fiance and baby mama Savannah Brinson with whom he has been with since high school. Just like week, Kardashian was linked back with Miles Austin. Kardashian was allegedly in attendance to cheer on Austin as the Dallas Cowboys took on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Cowboys lost to the Jaguars 35-17 and are now 1-6… with the Detroit Lions having a better record.
