Since winning the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks, Kris Versteeg has had some bad luck. The 24-year old forward was first traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have failed to make the playoffs for the past five seasons. Now, after winning the Cup, Versteeg’s name has been misspelled on the Hockey Holy Grail. The S and the T were reversed in Versteeg’s name, but he is taking the tyepo in stride.
“It’s kind of funny. I may never be one of the biggest names in the game but now it’ll go down in history as one of the misspells on the Stanley Cup so I’ll take it,” Versteeg said. “It’s just a perfect example of my life. Just something crazy and quirky that’s always happening to me.”
If you thought the Elton John Eminem team up was weird… it may have just gotten more bizarre. NHL star Alexander Ovechkin told Russian LIFE that he is in talks with the rapper to collaborate on a rap duet.
“This would be a big honor for me as I am a real fan of Eminem,” said the Washington Capitals captain. “I always have his CDs in my car. I will be happy just to meet him. By the way, the film ’8 Mile’ with Eminem starring is simply awesome.”
You know how in NFL preseason games the players take it easy…. not the case in the NHL. Watch the hit Toronto Maple Leaf Mike Komisarek gave on Ottawa Senator Francis Lessard. The NHL regular season starts October 6! (Go Wings xoxox Thejerseychaser)
Give credit where credit is due…. Sidney Crosby was hanging out at PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and hit an out of the park home run. Oh yeah Sid, thanks for stealing that gold medal from the US, and thanks again for ruining my dream of seeing a Stanley Cup win by the Red Wings in person (not once but twice).
