It seems Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is taking the work hard-play hard approach to the Super Bowl. Big Ben and his teammates were out on the town Tuesday partying at a piano bar in Fort Worth, Texas. The notorious quaterback racked up an $800 bar tab and tipped an additional $200 as him and his teammates sang Billy Joel’s Piano Man.
When asked about his night on the town, Big Ben said: “It was a superstition and tradition on Tuesday night. I take the linemen out to dinner. We went out for barbecue and then we wanted to hear some live music. We just had an enjoyable night.”
Surprisingly, Green Bay Packers quaterback Aaron Rodgers was absent from the festivities.
San Francisco Giants fans are making sure the Los Angeles Dodgers remember who won the World Series. The Giants play the Dodgers on Opening Day, March 31, and fans have started a collection to raise money to fly a “2010 Champs” banner over Dodgers stadium, Chavez Ravine. The campaign goal is to raise $8,000, and already more than half the money has been raised. The banner will read: “Giants 2010 Champs: Beat LA.” The group calls themselves the Faithful Supporters of the World Champions San Francisco Giants. The official website states: “It is a great way to pay tribute to the World Champion San Francisco Giants while giving the other organization a taste of what it’s like to be World Champions: something they haven’t tasted since 1988.”
Maria Menounos is a former Miss Teen USA, MTV VJ and now Access Hollywood correspondent. While not the most professional journalistic skills, this is called Thejerseychaser.com… watch as Menounos puts the moves on Green Bay Packers Clay Matthews. Can you blame her? Look at Matthews’ luscious locks.
The US Government has shutdown at least 10 websites for illegally streaming sporting events. The crackdown comes with Super Bowl XXLV just four days away. The websites do not stream the content themselves but post links to other illegal websites.
“The illegal streaming of professional sporting events over the Internet deals a financial body blow to the leagues and broadcasters, who are forced to pass their losses off to fans by raising prices for tickets and pay-per-view events,” said Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney in Manhattan. “With the Super Bowl just days away, the seizures of these infringing websites reaffirm our commitment to working with our law enforcement partners to protect copyrighted material and put the people who steal it out of business.”
I take it Bharara doesn’t know Fox is charging $3 million for 30 seconds of commercial time during the Super Bowl… talk about a finical blow!
