Kobayashi to compete via satellite in Coney Island hot dog eating contest

The Michael Jordan of food competitors, Takeru Kobayashi, will compete via satellite in the anual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition at Coney Island, New York. Kobayashi has won the title six-times, but he will not compete this year due to a contract dispute with the competition organizer Major League Eating. Under Major League Eating Contract, eaters can only participate in Major League Eating events and have total control over any endorsments.

Last year, Kobayashi sat out of the competition and has decided to take part via satellilte this year. I hope to create awareness about the nature of this kind of business,” Kobayashi said.  “At least they cannot erase history.”

Kobayashi is refering to that Nathan’s has removed him from their eating wall of fame after he was arrested at the competition last 4th of July. After Major League Eating banned Kobayashi from comeptiting, the world record holder rushed the stage and spent the night in a New York City jail.

A Japenese man in jail because he is not allowed to compete in a hot dog eating contest on Independence Day… if that isn’t American I don’t know what is?!?

Charlie Sheen used steroids for Major Leauge

The only drug Charlie Sheen is on is Charlie Sheen, but back when the movie star filmed Major League he was on steroids. In a new interview with Sports Illustrated Sheen admits, “Let’s just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit. It was the only time I ever did steroids. I did them for like six or eight weeks. You can print this, I don’t give a f-. My fastball went from 79 to like 85.”

The 1989 baseball satire grossed more than $50 million, in which Sheen starred as the incarcerated pitcher Rick Vaughn. Sheen stopped using when he could not control his temper. “I didn’t like the haircut because it generated so many comments in bars,” Sheen said. ”I’ve got enough of that already. Add that to the mix, and it’s a recipe for a fistfight!”

I am not sure what is more surprising, that Charlie Sheen has a temper or that he used steroids?

Pittsburgh holding rally for Hines Ward Dancing With The Stars victory

Always looking for an excuse to party… the city of Pittsburgh is holding a rally to congratulate Hines Ward on winning the 12th season of Daning With The Stars. Though he won back in May, he will be honored as he should be with a rally and celebration at the City County Building on Thursday.

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said, “City residents and the Steelers Nation have contacted my office asking for the city to properly thank our hometown hero for once-again shining the spotlight on Pittsburgh.”

Joining Ward at the ceremony will be his dancing partner Kym Johnson, and the day will be officially deemed Hines Ward and Kym Johnson Day.

“I am back to thank the city of Pittsburgh and Steelers Nation for all their support during Dancing With the Stars,” Ward said in a statement.  “I wanted to win this trophy for the city of champions and for the greatest fans in the world.”

After making it to the Super Bowl in Feburary, I am sure Pittsburgh fans were hoping Ward would be bringing a different trophy back to the city

Terrell Owens tears ACL during reality show

Terrell Owens is no stranger to controversy, and this time the 37-year old free agent tore his ACL while filming his VH1 reality show. The injury occurred during a personal workout. On VH1′s The T.O Show, cameras follow Owens along with his close friend, Monique Jackson, and his personal assistant, Kita Williams. But this is one storyline T.O has been able to keep under wraps. According to ESPN, Owens had surgery over a month ago to repair the injury by noted surgeon James Andrew.

Last season, T.O was with the Cincinnati Bengals but failed to live up to his one- year contract hype and was placed on injured reserves. During the 2005 Super Bowl, Owens famously played through what many thought of as a career ending fibula injury, but now entering his 15th year in the league, it will be more difficult for Owens to find a team who is willing to sign him.
