Burqas are not often associated with romance, but one newlywed jersey chasing couple have decided to spend their honeymoon in Afghanistan…. and I know what you’re thinking, it’s not Kim Kardashian! New York Yankees Nick Swisher and actress Joanna Garcia has decided to spend their honeymoon in Afghanistan visiting the troops.
Swisher told The New York Post, “Three military officers came to the Yankee locker room and asked if any of us would like to visit the troops. My hand went straight up, I said, ‘I’m in.’ I knew Joanna would want to go. It will be our first trip since we got married. I come from a military family … and no matter what your views are, these men and women are out there risking everything for us. I realize how fortunate I have been, so I like to give back at every opportunity I can.”
While the couple married in December, with Swisher’s busy baseball schedule and Garcia filming the ABC sitcom Better With You (which was canceled this spring) the couple have yet to go on their honeymoon.
“We are both really looking forward to visiting the troops,” Garcia said. “Yes, it isn’t a traditional honeymoon, but it is something we both feel strongly about. We’ll probably make a stop in Europe on our way back.”
Move over Jay-Z and Beyonce… Brad Pitt and Angelina because Tom Brady and wife Gisele Bundchen have been named the highest paid celebrity couple by Forbes magazine. Mr. and Mrs. Brady ranked in over $76 million from May 2010-May 2011. The couple was joined by fellow jersey chasing couple David and Victoria Beckham, who pulled in a combined $45 million.
Despite Brady’s $18 million contract with the New England Patriots, Bundchen is the bread winner of the family earning over $45 million. Bundchen became the first billonaire super model with her own skincare line Sejaa and collobrations with Hope lingerie and Ipanema sandals. In addition to Brady’s $18 million contracts with the Pats he earned an additional $17 million in endorsements, who knew Uggs paid so well!

People magazine has released its first photos of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’s wedding this past weekend. The couple earned a reported $17.9 million on the wedding…. including $2.5 millon from People for exclusive rights to the wedding photos. People released its cover for the new issue on stands this Friday in which Kardashian says “she felt like a princess.”
The couple made $15 million alone just from the TV rights for E!’s two-part four hour wedding special to air in October.
In what was dubbed as the reality royal wedding, Yahoo noted that its site saw three times as many searches for the name Kim Kardashian on the day of her wedding as they saw for Kate Middleton on the Royal Wedding back on April 29.
Talk about a hapily ever after!
Congratulations to Miley Cyrus who was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame! It appears as though Cyrus fan base are quite the bowling fanatics since the Hannah Montana star beat out other nominees such as Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga to be voted into the HOF’s celebrity wing.
“Fueled by the passion and support of her supporters and bowling fans worldwide, Ms. Cyrus rose to the occasion scoring an incredible comeback victory. We are honored to welcome her into the Hall of Fame and grateful for her support of the great sport of bowling,” said Steve Johnson, executive director of the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America.
Cyrus got the nod because according to her nomination ballot, “when she’s not filming or recording, she’s been spotted at various bowling centers with celebrity friends, including fellow nominees Nick Jonas and Justin Bieber, and charity bowling events.”
Miley is such a bowling fan, I had to search through Google Images to find this picture of her from her pre-salvia days!
