Despite swindling LeBron James from Cleveland, the Miami Heat have not lived up to their much anticipated hype. Though early into the season, the Heat are only 9-8… just barley above 500, and Mr. James is not happy about it. After the Heat’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks 106-95 last night, LeBron purposely bumped into Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra.
This is not the first time LeBron has not gotten along with his coaching staff. Last off season, in an attempt to keep LeBron in Cleveland, the Cavaliers fired head coach Mike Brown.
It has been widely speculated Spoelstra will be fired. Even LA Lakers legendary head coach Phil Jakcson believes Heat President and Hall-of-Fame coach Pat Riley will take over the team.
Jackson told ESPN 1000, “That’s kind of my take on it, is that eventually if things don’t straighten out here soon, it could be the Van Gundy thing all over again.”
Jackson later apologized for his comments, but it looks like he was just saying whatever else is thinking, including LeBron.
On Thursday, I posted this video of Michael Jordan responding to LeBron’s Nike “Rise” commercial asking fans, “What should I do” after the basketball star left Cleveland. The Jordan commercial was titled, “Maybe You Should Rise,” and pretty bad @$$.
It was one of the most epic Z-snaps between the Jordan LeBron rivalry. Jordan’s video quickly became one of the TJC most popular posts and generated more than half a million views in just four days on YouTube.
Both commercials were for Nike, making us question the validity of the Jordan commercial… but we were blinded with excitement that the greatest basketball player of all-time was calling out the self-proclaimed king.
That was until Miami Heat beat writer confirmed our suspicions. Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentiniel tweeted:
YouTube Jordan-LeBron commercial a spoof. Another example of anything goes social-media age. Jumpman vs. Nike simply not going to happen.
The video was created by fan Tom Hinueber, and the Jordan audio is from an old Air Jordan’s commercial. Nice job Tom && #TEAMJORDAN. To follow thejerseychaser.com on Twitter click here!
President Obama was injured in a pickup basketball game at Fort McNair in Washington DC and received 12 stitches. The President was elbowed by Rey Decerega, who works for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Obama received the stitches on his upper lip and was given a local anesthetic.
Other players in the pickup game were White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, who played basketball in college at Duke University, and other family members.
In response to injuring the President, Decerega said:
“I learned today the president is both a tough competitor and a good sport. I enjoyed playing basketball with him this morning. I’m sure he’ll be back out on the court again soon.”
Contrary to earlier reports, it was not Sarah Palin who elbowed the President, but I am sure she would have liked to and vise versa. Get well soon Barack xoxo TJC
LeBron haters of America have banned together to start a campaign to keep LeBron James out of the NBA All-Star game. The movement has even created the website keeplebronout.com with the mission statement:
“It’s simple: if you hate LeBron James as much as we do, fill out the all-star ballot on NBA.com, and pick anyone but LeBron to start at forward for the Eastern Conference. Remember, there’s no limit on voting: the more votes other players get, the better chance we’ll keep his ego in check, and Keep LeBron Out.”
The 2011 All-Star game is scheduled for Febuary 20, 2011 at the LA Staples Center. Fans vote for the starting five players for each conference, and if KeepLeBronout.com has anything to say about it, LeBron will not be one of them.
