LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and other NBA stars were on hand to play in a charity basketball game for wounded troops… also playing President Barack Obama. Also joining the all-star team were retired legends Magic Johnson and Bill Russell. The game was at Washington’s Fort McNair and was closed to media. Former NBA star Dennis Rodman’s Land Rover flipped while driving on Interstate 95 near Fort Lauderdale. Rodman walked away from the accident unhurt, while the driver was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. The NBA bad boy had just returned from St. Tropez where he was a celebrity DJ at a party.
At the American Century Championship golf tournament Michael Jordan finally gave his opinion of LeBron James leaving Cleveland for the Miami Heat. Jordan talks about LeBron at the 30 second mark where he said, “There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey look let’s get together and play on one team…. But that’s, things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”
Could the Pistons be moving to Las Vegas? A Las Vegas investment firm is trying to bring an NBA team to Sin City. Th group, International Development Management LLC said its close to buying an NBA team, but the sale will only go through if the proposed arena is approved by the county.
The team in question remains a mystery. There are four NBA teams up for sale: Atlanta, Golden State, Memphis, and DETROIT. Despite the Pistons’ history in the Motor City, many are speculating a move to Las Vegas because of the Detroit’s struggling economy.
Karen Davidson put the Pistons on the market after the passing of her husband Bill Davidison, who died at the age of 86 on March 13, 2009. Davidson has said she would like to sell the Pistons to a local owner, but it remains weary if Detroit can still support four sports teams.
Under Davidson’s ownership, the Pistons won their only three NBA championships in 1988, 1989, and 2004.
