All eyes are on Team USA swimmer Lauren Perdue who will swim the first leg of the 4×200 women’s freestyle relay… including LeBron James. James asked Perdue to dinner when the men’s basketball team visited Olympic Village before the games.
Perdue confirmed the rumored meeting saying, “He did. He was kind of joking but he was basically like, ‘Would you like to come eat with me at the dining hall?’ And I said, ‘Um, I’m sorry, I have a curfew. So I turned that one down, yeah.”
The 2009 Beijing gold medalist is engaged to his high school sweetheart and baby mama Savannah Brinson. James joins teammate Kobe Bryant to be in the news for their game off the court. Earlier this week, pictures surfaced of Kobe Bryant shirtless with female fans at an Olympic after party in Barcelona. The pictures caused Bryant’s estranged wife Vanessa to almost cancel plans to attend the London Games.

The Miami Heat are facing their most important game in history tonight and are asking fans to cheer and not to leave early. The Heat are down 3-2 to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals and have called in the sixth man to help. In the email sent out to season ticket holders, the Heat tell fans to wear “white and comfortable shoes because “you need to be standing from the opening tip ’til the final buzzer”. Earlier this season, the Heat made a promo video telling fans how to “Fan Up,” after receiving criticism for fans not showing up on time. During the Eastern Conference finals, Charles Barkely called the Heat the worst fans in sports.
Last week, LeBron James upset a lot of people when he said the NBA should contract or downsize to make the league more competitive… because let’s face it, not every team can hold a players summit to get LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. But now LeBron is back pedeling saying he doesn’t know what contraction means.
“That’s crazy, because I had no idea what the word ‘contraction’ meant before I saw it on the Internet. I never even mentioned that. That word never even came out of my mouth. I was just saying how the league was back in the ’80s and how it could be good again. I never said, ‘Let’s take some of the teams out.’”
This is a perfect example the NCAA can use to encourage athletes to stay in school. In LeBron’s original quote, the 26-year old said:
“Imagine if you could take Kevin Love(notes) off Minnesota and add him to another team and you shrink the [league]. Looking at some of the teams that aren’t that great, you take Brook Lopez(notes) or you take Devin Harris(notes) off these teams that aren’t that good right now and you add him to a team that could be really good. Not saying let’s take New Jersey and let’s take Minnesota out of the league. But hey, you guys are not stupid, I’m not stupid, it would be great for the league.”
LeBron wants the game to return to its glory days of the 80s when he was only five-years old. Thanks blog brother for the link!
