Oakland University mens basketball team played with women’s ball

During last night’s University of Illinois vs. Oakland University men’s basketball game, Illinois realized they were playing with a women’s basketball seven minutes into the first half.

A men’s basketball is one inch smaller and two ounces lighter than a woman’s ball. But no one noticed the difference in size until Illinois guard Demitri McCamey complained to the refs. The officials did not believe McCamey and his teammate center Mike Tisdale had to help convince the refs of their mistake.

Women’s ball or not, the Fighting Illini won the game 74-63.

Unviersity Maryland football player will miss Military Bowl due to scooter accident

The University of Maryland Terrapins are going to their first bowl game since 2008, but they will be without redshirted freshman Dexter McDougie. The No.3 cornerback will miss the Military Bowl against East Carolina.

A school official has informed the Washington Post, McDougie suffered a broken clavicle in a “single scooter accident” on campus on Saturday night.

Fellow teammate Isiah Ross was driving the sooter, but was not injured in the accident when the scooter hit a bump in the road.

The Maryland Athletic Director needs to think about setting a ban on all scooters because this is the second injury of its kind Pete DeSouza also a redshirted freshmen suffered two fractured legs in another scooter accident earlier in the season.

Weekend Video: Cincinnati mascot arrested for throwing snowballs during football game

The University of Cincinnati mascot has been arrested for snowing snowballs during the Cincinnati Pittsburgh game. The Bearcat was escorted out by security for throwing snowballs, and then arrested after he pushed a security guard. Luckily, the game went on as Cincinnati had a backup mascot on call (true story). Cincy not only lost their mascot but also lost the game 28-10.

Too bad for him a fan caught it all on video, watch it above and see the mascot’s face, as police have him on the ground while handcuffing him. Rule No.1 in mascots is never to reveal their your identity.

Is it just me or does having a bearcat as your mascot seem pretty indecisive? Who knew they even existed

Josh Groban makes fun of Rich Rod for crying to Raise Me Up on Twitter

As if Rich Rodriguez doesn’t have it bad enough worrying about getting fired from his job, now singer Josh Groban has made fun of the University of Michigan football coach on Twitter! At last night’s U of M football banquet, Rich Rod was brought to tears as he sang Groban’s classic “You Raise Me Up.” After three consecutive losing seasons, Rodriguez began singing the song to describe his emotional struggles, “It may seem kind of cheesy, sappy, what have you. I’ve been listening to it the last couple of weeks and kind of gets the mood we’re in right now.”

Groban has now responded to his newest fan on Twitter saying: “Coach Rodriguez, I’m very flattered but crying to You Raise Me Up is SO five years ago #playwelcometothejungle

If Rich Rod keeps his job do you think he will make the Wolverines add the song to their locker room playlist? To follow thejerseychaser.com on Twitter click here!
