A minor league hockey team is hosting a Charlie Sheen night the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day…. because they figured St. Patrick’s Day is a “holiday Charlie enjoys celebrating.” The ECHL’s Bakersfield Condors will give free admission to anyone who passes a drug test, will give out Charlie Sheen masks to the first 1,000 fans and will try and attempt to break the Twitter World Record by reaching 1 million followers. Sheen set the record earlier this week in 25 hours and 17 minutes. Condors President Matthew Riley said, ”We would invite him come up to the game and participate in a ceremonial puck drop and just have fun for the night with our fans. We’ll even give him the ticket special for dressing up like himself.”
I hope the Condors plan on winning

In a new report by Sports Business Daily, the Florida Panthers’ TV ratings are so bad their games get less viewers than infomercials. The Panthers average only 3,000 viewers a game, the worst of the 22 teams studied.
AbCoaster exercise equipment, the Ninja Professional Blender and the Chopper and Ice Crusher all got higher ratings for their infomercials.
To put into perspective how bad it really is, the Pittsburgh Penguins have the largest audience in the NHL, averaging 105,000 households a game. The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings are second and third in NHL ratings. In the Panthers’ defense, Florida isn’t really a hockey market… despite the Tampa Bay Lightning getting 15,000 viewers!

Yesterday, TJC reported Carrie Underwood’s husband Mike Fisher was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Nashville Predators, and the move is not sitting well with Senators fans.
Ottawa’s most popular radio station is now banning Carrie Underwood, vowing never to play her songs again. Underwood is being blamed for the trade, Fisher has spent his entire career with the Senators and now moves to Nashville to be closer to his wife.
rep from 105.3 KISS FM said:
“We know Mike Fisher is not to blame for this trade but feel he was lured away from Ottawa by a country-music superstar. Sure, she’s pretty. Yes, she can sing. But can she play hockey? Can she put one on the top shelf with a slap shot? No!… This is a wretching announcement and the city is completely upset. He’s been here for 10 years, he’s the second most popular player and it’s awful.”
