Phillies bench player John Mayberry Jr. can’t score on the field or off. After seeing Pirates of the Caribbean, the .264 right fielder asked his agent to set him up with actress Antoinette Nikprelaj who played the mermaid, only problem is Nikprelaj is married and has a child!
In the email, Mayberry’s agent wrote: “I hate to even be sending you this e-mail, and I’m quite embarrassed to say the least, but we have a young client on the Philadelphia Phillies who asked us if we knew any agents at Innovative Artists and could connect him to Antoinette Nikprelaj.
“I know you’re not a dating or set-up service, but John Mayberry Jr. (Phillies OF) would love to meet Antoinette or invite her to a baseball game sometime. Would this be possible?”
He added, “Here’s a bio of John to give you some more info on him (he’s a great guy, down-to-earth, humble, Stanford-educated, etc.) Thanks for considering this as you know how this business is and servicing clients.”
Like any good publicist… Nikprelaj’s agent sent the email to the New York Post!
Before Kim Kardashian made $18 million on her wedding, she made a sex tape with R&B singer Ray J that was leaked to the public. Coincidentally, Kris Humphries was seated next to Ray Jay on a cross country flight no less than two-weeks after he married Kardashian.
On the Delta flight from LA to New Orleans, Humprhies sat across the aisle from Brandy’s younger brother who broke the awkward silence. According to the New York Post, Ray J said: “Come on, you know who I am. I just want to say congratulations.”
While many credit the tape as being the rise to Kardashian’s fame, a secret buyer has come forward offering Vivid Entertainment to buy the rights to the film and to take it off the market. Despite the $30 million price tag, I am sure it is a less complicated take off than Humphries and Ray J’s exchange, and we doubt they shared peanuts!
Our jersey chaser of the month Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter have broken up! The couple, who have been dating for three years, confirmed the news to People, “They care about each other and it was amicable,” says a source. “They’re still friends.”
The breakup comes just a month after the very private pair spoke about their relationship in the HBO documentary on Jeter’s 3,000th hit. In Derek Jeter 3K, Kelly joked about baseball IQ, “I didn’t know the difference between a run and a homerun.” Talk about a curveball!
While Kelly has become a regular fixture at Yankees Stadium, her schedule has kept her busy as she films the new Charlies Angels series down in Miami. Jeter’s Yankees are battling for a playoff position and are one game back from the Boston Red Sox.

Burqas are not often associated with romance, but one newlywed jersey chasing couple have decided to spend their honeymoon in Afghanistan…. and I know what you’re thinking, it’s not Kim Kardashian! New York Yankees Nick Swisher and actress Joanna Garcia has decided to spend their honeymoon in Afghanistan visiting the troops.
Swisher told The New York Post, “Three military officers came to the Yankee locker room and asked if any of us would like to visit the troops. My hand went straight up, I said, ‘I’m in.’ I knew Joanna would want to go. It will be our first trip since we got married. I come from a military family … and no matter what your views are, these men and women are out there risking everything for us. I realize how fortunate I have been, so I like to give back at every opportunity I can.”
While the couple married in December, with Swisher’s busy baseball schedule and Garcia filming the ABC sitcom Better With You (which was canceled this spring) the couple have yet to go on their honeymoon.
“We are both really looking forward to visiting the troops,” Garcia said. “Yes, it isn’t a traditional honeymoon, but it is something we both feel strongly about. We’ll probably make a stop in Europe on our way back.”
