With the success of rival HBO’s sports reality series, Showtime has decided to hop on board and create a series chronicling the San Francisco Giants quest to win a second straight World Series. According to Entertainment Weekly, “Showtime is in early talks with producer Mike Tollin to do a docuseries that focuses on the San Francisco Giants.”
Tollin has already produced acclaimed sports documentary Bonds on Bonds... or for you non-sports fans Varsity Blues or One Tree Hill.
I just hope Brian Wilson’s “Machine” is cast on the show….
Google Analytics tells me that you guys love celebrity news, so I thought it was only fitting to report how die-hard San Francisco Giants’ fan Rob Schneider will be the master of ceremony for the team’s World Series parade. Schneider was born and raised in San Francisco. Although the SNL alumn is a Lakers’ fan, he hasn’t gotten too Hollywood as he still roots for him hometeam. Schneider has participated in Giants’ pregame activities and charity events in the past.
The parade will start at 11am Pacific time, with record crowds expected since fans started lining up before dawn.
The San Francisco Giants are the 2010 World Series Champions. The Giants beat the Texas Rangers in five games, winning tonight’s matchup 4-1 . Shortstop Edgar Renteria was named MVP of the series. This is the Giants first World Series since 1954.
