While most players are going over seas to play basketball during the NBA lockout, Minnesota Timberwolves Anthony Randolph has taken the Animal House route and wants to join a fraternity. Randolph left college early to pursue his NBA dreams after his freshmen year at LSU. While Randolph continued to take online classes for his sociology major, with an NBA season likely, he has rented an apartment for the fall in Baton Rouge within walking distance of LSU’s campus.
“The students know I’m from the NBA, but it’s more fun because I can focus on my schoolwork,” Randolph told Yahoo Sports. “I don’t have the basketball distraction. I’m a more focused student now after being in the real world for a couple of years.”
Hope he handles hazing better than Dez Bryant!
Reggie Bush and Kris Humphries are in a jersey chasing showdown over bride to be Kim Kardashian. Bush and Kardashian dated for 3 years before they had a nasty breakup last summer. Now, the reality star is engaged to NJ Nets Humphries after an eight-month courtship. The wedding is just over a week away, but if it is up to Bush there won’t be a wedding.
According to the new issue of Life & Style, Bush is trying to win Kardashian back. “He’s been sending text messages to Kim and leaving her voice mails, telling her she’s making a mistake and that he’s the one for her,” an insider reveals. “In the past, Kim was friendly to Reggie but now she’s stopped responding.”
Kardashian and Humphries are set to wed on August 20, and cameras will be rolling for a four hour two-part special on E! I think it’s safe to say, Reggie will not be at the wedding.
The Lake County Fielders are having a tough season… last month their announcer quit on their air during a game, and now the team had to cancel a game because they did not have baseballs to play with during a game between the Calgary Vipers. While the Fiedlers said on their Facebook page that the game was canceled due to “saftey issues,” the Calgary Vipers are speaking out!
Viper infielder Chad Ehrnsberger posted online: “They had a great crowd there tonight but yes the baseballs were a joke. They were like little league practice balls purchased at Dick’s. I’ll put it like this…when I give lessons or throw BP to my travel team, if I come across these balls I throw them out. And we were using them as game balls!”
The game was called after just one inning when the Vipers refused to play because of the poor ball conditions. This is not the first time players have walked off the field during a Fielders game. Earlier this season, then manager Tim Johnson and 11 players walked off the field because they haven’t been paid. The Fielders are reportedly behind in over $185,000 in rent. The team is partly owned by movie star Kevin Costner, and at a networth of $150 m you think he could afford $5.00 MLB offical Rawlings game day baseballs.
Ex-New York Yankees batboy Luis Castillo lived every baseball fan’s fantasy and is now revealing team secrets to the New York Post… even how he got the nickname of Squeegee by Derek Jeter himself. According to Castillo, Jeter would great him and fellow batboys by saying, “‘How’re you doin’, biatches?’ Bee-atch-es. You’d turn around and say to yourself, Hunh? Was that Derek Jeter who waltzed past, the team captain, the man who is — in the public eye — a model of correctness and good taste?”
Castillo started his tenure with the Yankees when he was just 14 but later served as a clubhouse assistant. Though a committed man now to our Jersey Chaser of the Month, Jeter used his trainer to pick up woman in New York night clubs. “.He would ask the trainer to go up to the woman and tell her that Derek Jeter wanted to talk with her. Then he would leave the bar first and wait for her. I would often see groups of women giggling and leaving with the trainer, who would lead them to their rendezvous with the captain.”
While Castillo didn’t rearrange booty calls for Jeter, he did have to lay out clothes and put toothpaste on his toothbrush for Alex Rodriguez.
“Jeter and some of the other guys were terrific tippers. Roger Clemens gave me $3,000 at the end of the year. Posada gave me $7,000. A-Rod might come in with $1,400. Sure, it’s still a sizable amount, but when he found out that other players were tipping higher, he had to imitate them, and he bumped his tips up.” Castillo said. “He had to make sure he was the best tipper in the league. He even tipped me $100 a week to make sure there was a creatine shake waiting for him after each home game.”
Wonder if Cameron Diaz has to make his creatine shake now?
