Pete Rose filming a reality show

One of baseball’s most controversial players is getting his own reality show. Pete Rose was banned from baseball in 1991 for betting on games. Now, the all-time hit leader will get a second chance at stardom.

TLC has signed on for the series, Pete Rose and Kiana Kim Family Project. Cameras will follow 71-year-old Rose and his thirtysomething Playboy model fiancée Kiana Kim. “She’s got younger kids and I’ve got [four adult] kids, and we go through the same things everybody else does: taking the braces off, making sure they get their education and they go to basketball practice or acting class,” Rose told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s not going to be classless like it seems like a lot of reality shows aren’t really reality.”

Hopefully MLB commissioner Bud Seilg is a TLC fan because Rose said, “If the commissioner [Bud Selig] ever finds it in its heart to give me a second chance, I’m sure that we’ll address the. But if I ever make the Hall of Fame, I’ll be the happiest guy in the world because I understand what it means.”

Bill Maher buys minority stake in Mets

Bill Maher is now owner of the NY Mets. The comedian purchased a minority stake in the team.

“First of all, I think it’s a great investment,” Maher said.  ”People sometimes forget that there’s only one National League franchise in New York City and they’re not making anymore.  I’m a Met fan all my life and I think it would be a great place.”

The purchase comes after the team fell into financial struggles in the wake of the Bernie Madoff  investment scandal. The team was sued by the trustee seeking to recover money from the victims of the Ponzi scheme. In September, the team called off a $200 m minority sale of the team, instead opting to sell limited partner shares.

“It happened months ago,” Maher said.  ”It’s the first time I’ve been in New York, so we didn’t say anything. But I read about it  in the paper in December saying the Mets  were available— that you could buy these limited partnerships.”

Maher was at the Mets game on Sunday for an on the field ceremony at Citi Field. Though the Mets did not say how much Maher owned of the team, in March the team announced that 12 minority stakes were sold for $240 million.

“I’m just a fan,” Maher said. “I’m not going to get involved.  I think my role is going to be bringing luck to the team— they didn’t have a no-hitter for 50 years, I buy in and I come to town and there’s a no hitter.  Draw your own conclusions.”

Charlie Sheen did NOT buy Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl ring

Amid internet reports that Charlie Sheen bought Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl ring, the actor went on the Dan Patrick Show and set the record straight saying, “As much as I would be honored to own such an important artifact… I had nothing to do with the acquisition.” The ring would have added to Sheen’s collection, who already owns Babe Ruth’s 1927 World Series ring.

The rumor first went viral when Jay Glazer of Fox Sports tweeted: “Got no idea if this is true but if is it’s hilarious. Lawrence Taylor & his agent Mark Lepselter were told last night winning bidder for LT’s Super Bowl Ring was none other than Charlie Sheen!!!”

The hall of fame linebacker has fallen under hard times, and last year was sentenced to six years probation for sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute. But It was Taylor’s son who decided to auction off the Super Bowl XXV championship ring with SCP Auctions, selling for $230,000
